Why This Must Be Read: This isn't quite enemies-to-lovers but Rodney's definitely initially annoyed with John, the new guy at the Mensa chess club, and it takes him quite some time to traverse a) being emotionally deaf to John's interest, b) becoming friends with John, c) slowly realising he's attracted to John, d) having a sexual identity crisis, and, e) researching gay sex so as to be prepared. Meanwhile, a disappointed John has found a new boyfriend! This sounds way angstier than it is - Rodney's charmingly clueless and concrete but he's also bluntly determined once he figures himself and the situation out - and of course it all comes right in the end. An enjoyable read!

Jack gets the phone call when he's in Daniel's office waiting for him. The archaeologist had been sent off with one of the other teams while Jack and Teal'c healed up from their last mission gone wrong. Jack knows perfectly well that there's no cause for worry, that the teams the SGC puts together are more than capable of keeping Daniel safe.

That doesn't mean he doesn't worry.

Why This Must Be Read:

Written for a fest that seemed to prompt using *all* the tropes (at least as many as possible), hollyandvice does use all the tropes and uses them well.

Daniel (supposedly) dies while off-world with another SG team. But -- important -- there's no body! So Jack never gives up hope, follows the thinnest of threads and brings Daniel back.

But!

Then they have to talk! Luckily, Daniel is fluent in silent-O'Neill and there's hope for our boys.

Sometimes coming up with prompts is hard, yo!

Thinking about it, after watching a few episodes of SGA this past week, I started thinking about The Storm and how Sheppard, McKay, and Weir got along, outsmarting the Genii and taking back Atlantis. So that's where half of this prompt is coming from. It would be nice to see a little missing scene from The Storm, like maybe John taking care of Rodney's arm after The Storm has passed and Atlantis is under SGA's control again. Or maybe Ronon and Amelia are having a little time away from Atlantis and get caught up in a storm, which brings them closer. Or maybe it's something more grand - like a grand gesture that Lorne makes to show someone his affection. Or maybe sneaking a shuttle off of Atlantis while it's in the San Francisco Bay and having a little joyride to the Grand Canyon. Could it be Markham and Stackhouse that steals the 'jumper? Could be - it could be a grand gesture of love - or maybe they use the 'jumper to get to a sex store's grand opening.

Yes, Markham and Stackhouse would totally steal a jumper to go find more sex toys. Those boys, I swear.
